WHAT WE DO

Manual handling assessments and training

Our manual handling assessments and training use proactive techniques to help minimise injuries caused by manual tasks in the workplace.

How can manual handling assessments help?

Manual handling causes a significant amount of all workplace injuries.

Our manual handling assessments give you a comprehensive review of how your workers lift, lower, push, pull, carry, move, hold an object.

Assessments and education are vital to minimise workplace injuries by allowing you to provide the most appropriate education and introduce good practices.

Types of manual handling assessments provided:

General manual handling assessments

A general review of practices employed by workers within a workplace.

Task-specific manual handling assessments

A review of specific tasks undertaken.

Role-specific manual handling assessments

A review of all tasks and associated manual handling practices for a specific role.

Ideal outcomes of a manual handling assessment include:

  • A comprehensive report outlining key manual handling concerns, real-time recommendations and suggestions for supporting equipment (if needed)
  • A clear indication of whether the worker is capable of safely engaging in a specific role

Manual handling training includes:

Our manual handling training uses proactive techniques and education to help minimise injuries caused by manual tasks in the workplace.

With our manual handling training, your workers will be knowledgeable and empowered to perform their role with greater safety.

We can provide this training on an individual basis, or as a group.

Ideal outcomes of a manual handling training include:

  • An upskilled workforce who understands manual handling procedures that impact their role
  • Reduced risk of injuries related to manual handling tasks
  • Safe manual handling practices

Warm up for work training

We will attend your workplace and deliver a comprehensive warm up program aimed at preparing your employees for the physical demands of their working day and in turn, minimising the risk of them suffering a workplace injury.

A warm up session typically runs for 20 minutes and can be delivered as a once off or can be a recurring session.

Prior to delivering the training, we will conduct a brief 30 minute observation of the job roles being completed by the participants of the session so that they can tailor the warm up program to your workplace or industry and ensure they are focusing on the core muscle groups required to perform the daily tasks.

Standard manual handling training

We will deliver a standard presentation to up to 15 employees in the workplace.

The presentation is focused on providing basic education to employees on body biomechanics and how using correct manual handling techniques can directly reduce the risk of physical injuries in the workplace.

Presentations run for between 45-60 minutes and include both demonstrations and interactive group training.

Presentations can also be delivered virtually if required.

Tailored manual handling training

We will attend your workplace and deliver a presentation to up to 15 employees that is specifically tailored to the unique challenges of your workplace.

Presentations are aimed at educating employees on body biomechanics and how using correct manual handling techniques can minimise manual handling related/physical injuries in your workplace.

They will also receive tailored advice on how to safely perform high risk tasks within their particular job roles.

In order to tailor our package, we will conduct a site visit to become familiar with prevalent manual handling risks, and to capture photos and videos to assist in personalising the training presentation.

The actual presentation runs for between 45-60 minutes and includes both demonstrations and interactive group training.

Train the trainer

A train the trainer package provides organisations with the ability to upskill nominated managers/supervisors or in-house trainers in identifying and correcting poor manual handling in the workplace.

The package focuses on how to engage staff in safety discussions and how to influence behaviour change.

The course is delivered over a full working day and can include up to 10 participants.

Upon completion, we provide intellectual property for future training, including a PowerPoint presentation, and an entire suite of documents to plan, facilitate, record and evaluate the training sessions.

A practical competency assessment of all participants is also included in the package.

Please note this is a customised service therefore a build cost would be incorporated into the fee should you wish to engage.
